FAQ

Do you provide in-home or virtual therapy services?

Although the Growing Changes office is based in Edmonton, we can accommodate travel to surrounding areas in the greater Edmonton metropolitan region. Through experience, we know when remote therapy and communication can achieve positive outcomes. We will assess each child for suitability, and where appropriate, we will deliver therapy remotely via telehealth sessions.

Where remote services are not possible or suitable for a child, we will endeavour to visit, pending an individual risk assessment.

Do I need a referral to access your services?

No referral is needed to access private services, and you can call us directly to set up appointments. If you are accessing services through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), you will need contract approval from them prior to starting services.

Does the Growing Changes team have measures in place to protect health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Our therapy team follows established guidelines and precautions when conducting in-person in-home or in-person sessions to ensure appropriate measures are taken to avoid transmission of COVID-19. As health care providers, the health and safety of our patients and their families are our priority.

Do you do occupational therapy, speech and language and psychology assessments?

Yes, we offer assessments and formal reports. No referral is needed for these assessments, and you can contact us directly to set up an appointment.

Are private services covered under health insurance plans?

Therapy services may be covered under health insurance plans, and we encourage families to check into their coverage for different therapists. All Growing Changes therapists are licensed and registered with their respective colleges. We will provide you with a receipt so you can submit your claims claims with our therapists’ registered numbers.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept money transfers and cheques. We do not accept payment via credit cards.

Is GST added onto your service amounts?

As health care professionals, we are exempt from GST, so it will not be added to your service fees.

I have chosen Growing Changes to be my service provider for FSCD — what do I do now?

If you are interested in working with our team of professionals, contact your caseworker, and they will submit a referral to Growing Changes. Once the referral is received, we will contact you to set up services for your child.

How do I know my child will get a qualified therapist?

All of our therapists are highly-qualified in their particular field, and many of our therapists have received additional training in certain areas. At Growing Changes, we begin the intake process by discussing your concerns and gathering information. We then assign a therapist who will best suit the needs of your child and help them reach their full potential.
